Family Eco Farm Southern Highlands
Free range ducks are their specialty and served on plates at exclusive restaurants like Quay, Bennelong and Rockpool Bar and Grill just to name a few.
I recently visited the farm from an industrial perspective after asking a waiter about the pork I was dining on in a restaurant. Wanting to know why the pork was of different colour texture and taste, I quietly ask the waiter what was going on.
Tathra Place is a 100 acre property, run and managed by husband and wife team, Luke and Pia Winder.
Tathra Place Free Range specialises in free-range produce – no chemicals hormones or antibiotics.
Recently while at the farm, I watched the free-range Tokyo and Saddleback pigs being moved from one paddock to another. I witnessed the ducks being put into crates ready for market and did an hour tour of the farm with Luke.
The whole farm ecosystem is amazing and gives people the opportunity to witness chemical-free farming, commercially available to a wide list of suppliers or direct at Ramsgate farmers markets. The fresh produce tastes bursts through every bite.
You can get involved on the farm for a price in activities/jobs or tours during your visit. As discussed on the website - "This is a working farm and your families are encouraged to participate in these activities to see and learn how our animals are raised".

I really loved visiting the farm and seeing how Luke's family and team are changing the way farming and food can be produced in Australia.
