The is aptly named.
UNSW students should be familiar with the many eateries along Anzac Parade, but is a standout if you love spicy food.
Strings of fake chilli peppers hang off the walls in , which should serve as a warning to those who like their food mild.
Service was a bit slow on a week night, but we were soon tucking into their special spicy stir fry. The base is $5, and you get to choose at least five ingredients to put into the stir fry. We opted for lotus, thick Shanghai noodles, duck feet, tripe and chicken. Other ingredients that you can choose from include mushrooms, beef, pork and tofu.
The stir fry came packed with chilli peppers and peppercorns, which simultaneously made your mouth burn and go numb. Being a fan of hot food, I enjoyed it immensely- though the ratio of ingredients did skew towards the noodle side.
We also ordered the salt and pepper pork spare ribs ($10.80) which was nicely crispy and tender.
To offset the saltiness and spiciness of our other dishes, we also had rice noodles with beef ($7.80). The beef, like the pork, was tender and the noodles were highly savoury.
Overall a good dinner, though I'd recommend visitors to the to order rice to go with the intense flavours of the dishes.
There is nearby parking on Middle St.
