This July, the popular
Tastes of Central Geelong food festival will be back, providing a great reason to brave the cold and head into the city for some food, wine and entertainment.
The festival will take place across a number of venues and locations in Geelong and will feature a variety of events, including:
Dining experiences, such as banquets and BBQ feasts
Tours, including the popular 'Dumpling Discovery' tour
Discounts, competitions and promotions
The
official launch will take place from 12-2pm on Friday the 6th of July at Little Malop Central, where there will be food trucks and live music.

This year, there will be a selection of free events for both adults and children, plus ticketed events to suit a range of budgets.
Bookings are required for some events, so make sure you check each event listing on the official website to avoid missing out.
Some of the highlights this year will include:
Special Dinner Events: Geelong's restaurants will be hosting a range of special dinner events as part of the festival. These include:
Celebrate Bastille Day with live music and a two-course French-style dinner at Denny's Kitchen on Brougham Street.
Mavs Restaurant on Little Malop Street will be hosting three special dinner events during the festival, which will feature Greek music and a 20-course Greek Meze. The cost is $50 per person (food only), and bookings are essential.
Tomodachi Izakaya Bar on Little Malop Street will be hosting a special three-course Japanese banquet. The events will take place on the 19th of July and the 26th of July, with the option of a 6:30pm or 7:45pm sitting, and bookings are required.
On the 17th and 19th of July, Pistol Pete's Food & Blues will be hosting a special four-course dinner, featuring culinary influences from Southern United States.

Vegan-Friendly Events
While some of this year's events have set menus that are unable to be modified, there are also several vegan options available, including:
Visit vegan-friendly cafes in central Geelong, and try a range of delicious food. Cost is $25 and bookings are essential.

This 2-hour cooking class will be completely vegan and gluten-free.

Kids Events:The festival coincides with the second week of the school holidays, and there will be plenty of children's activities to keep the kids entertained.
Prices for kids events range from $0 to $45, and include activities such as:
Enjoy a Willy Wonka-themed high tea with sweet treats and hot chocolate.
The cost is $45 and bookings are essential.
Come on down to the the magical world of Unicornia - a place filled with unicorns, mermaids and dragons. There will be a range of free activities including sessions where children can make their own fairy bread, decorate gingerbread men, make 'Tiny Teddy' cars plus more.
Bookings are not required, and the sessions will run from 10am-2pm daily, on the 9th-13th of July 2018.
Pizzeria Adamo on Ryrie Street will be hosting two pizza-making sessions for kids on Wednesday the 11th of July. Sessions are $10 and bookings are essential.
