October is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months that is all about celebrating the art of wine and winemaking. One such iconic event that will be returning for its 21st consecutive year (and just in time for the long weekend) is
Taste of the Best (TotB) , as part of the
Royal Adelaide Wine Show .
Known for its lineup of over 2500 types of wines that are sourced locally as well as nationally,
TotB 2019 is hoping to immerse their customers into a space where they can indulge in newly released, vintage, and award-winning wines on
October 4, 2019, including rare single varietals such as Gewurztraminer, Piquepoul, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Meunier and Alicante Bouschet.
All these wines will be available for sampling purposes for those who consider themselves wine enthusiasts. Seeing how all these wines will be entered into a prestigious event such as
The Royal Adelaide Wine Show that judges wines based on colour, clarity, purity of fruit, bouquet and palate, you can expect the 376 wineries exhibiting and showcasing their fermented creations with the enthusiastic event-goers. Offerings in the form of intimate wine tasting experiences will also be on the table throughout the event.
It's a special opportunity for people to taste an expansive range of wine all in the one place. We have many wineries and independent winemakers taking park in this year's event, with approximately 70 per cent of wines represented from South Australia.
Greg Follett (Wine Committee Chair)
If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by the quantity of wine on offer, why not opt for a
Masterclass hosted by the National Wine Education and Training Centre? Or you could even look at taking up the hour-long
Riedel Sensory Workshop at 5pm on the day, where you can learn about how certain forms glassware will affect the overall flavour and aroma of four wines, including Sauvignon Blanc, Oaked Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Cabernet. Tickets to the Workshop can be booked
here and will include a set of four Riedel Performance glasses to take home (valued at $199.90).
TotB 2019 will be held at the Wayville Pavilion on October 4, 2019, as part of the Royal Adelaide Wine Show. Tickets include a tasting glass to take home, cocktail food, a catalogue listing all the wines available, and live music performed by country musician, Tanya Cornish. Book your tix here .
