Wildflowers, wineries, food and fun
Politicians will be anxious on 7 September but the rest of us can cast our vote and then go enjoy life. What better way to celebrate the beginning of spring than taking a short drive to enjoy the bounty of the Chittering Valley? Taste of Chittering promises a day of food, fun and entertainment for the whole family in a relaxed country setting less than an hour from Perth.
The festival is billed as "all things Chittering in one place on one day" and the program certainly bears this out. The Farmers Market, normally held on the 4th Sunday of the month, will make a special appearance on the day. This market features home-grown plants, fruit and vegetables and goodies like gourmet fudge, spices and more.
The entertainment starts at 10 and goes on all day. Watch the Mad Tatters Morris dancers, march with the Sambanista drummers or just enjoy some smooth sounds. For the youngsters there's free face painting, maraca and whistle making plus pony rides (gold coin donation).
Also featured are local attractions and businesses. Plan a trip to the Bindoon Agricultural Show or discover the various walk and drive trails which are especially popular during wildflower season.
There will be plenty of free children's activities
A Wine Nook will feature tasting from local producers and a variety of food and drink will be available for purchase.
