The Benevolent Society is an independent, non-religious, non-profit organisation which supports members of the community in metropolitan, regional and rural New South Wales and in Queensland. Celebrating a remarkable 200 years of service in 2013, the Australian charity organisation is stronger than ever and their recently launched Taste Food Tours, is just one of their exciting ongoing community projects.
The Taste Food Tours are based in and around multicultural South West Sydney. Held on selected Saturdays, these family friendly guided walking tours will take you around culturally diverse suburbs such as Bankstown, Greenacre, Lakemba, Campsie, Belmore, Fairfield and Strathfield.
You can choose from a range of culturally themed tours; for example, you can travel from 'Shanghai via Saigon' in Bankstown, 'Cuba to Caracas' in Fairfeld, 'Beirut to Bangladesh' in Lakemba, 'Cyprus via Seoul' in Belmore or go on a 'World Food Trail' in Bankstown.
On each tour, there will be a meeting spot, then as a group, you will have a quick coffee and then proceed on your foodie trail. Throughout the day, you will be shown the best places to shop and dine and after all the in store tastings and a hearty lunch, your sample bag (which you will fill along the way) is sure to feature a host of goodies. See the official Growing Communities Together Blog to see some of the local businesses visited as part of past Taste Food Tours.
Taste Food Tours can also be tailored for private groups of 8 or more - whether it be a celebration, such as a birthday, hens/bucks night or anniversary, or a corporate team-building function or just a get together with friends and family, the Taste Food Tours team will be able to create a unique cultural experience to suit your budget and needs.
