Drink in a Unique Cabaret Experience
If you’ve always thought cabaret needs more cabernet, you would have loved
Taste Cabaret. This clever concept presented by Wynnum Fringe and De Bortoli Wines combined wine tasting and appetiser nibbling with variety entertainment.
Whether we liked to say “Cheers!”, “Prost!”, or “Here’s to us”, the audience was raising their glasses again and again during
Taste Cabaret. The hour-long show was thrilling, with exciting circus acts, singing, and piano playing, all hosted by none other than cabaret marvel, Dr. Trevor Jones.
Produced by the award-winning Tom Oliver Productions,
Taste Cabaret was a clever concept that audiences over 18 could literally sink their teeth into. Those in the cheap seats simply got to enjoy the show, though we were encouraged to pop to the bar for our own choice of tipple. While the VIP cabaret seating included 3 wine tasters, a mini tasting board, and a bottle of sparkling for the table of 4 people and the mid-range cabaret seating included 3 wine tasters, and a mini tasting board.
Circus acts included hoop, trapeze, and acrobatics, with Alice Muntz being an audience favourite. The show’s burlesque songstress come sommelier Rebel may have been even more tipsy than the audience. Despite her loose delivery, she was a lot of fun and offered some quirky comedy moments to the show. Dr. Trevor Jones was a polished and professional entertainer, and as host, singer and pianist, he kept the show under control and the audience engaged. He did a great job encouraging the crowd to sing along and get involved in the show, adding to the fun.
Taste Cabaret was the sort of show with a wide appeal while being a great way for people to experience De Bortoli Wines they may not have tried before too.
