Dine on dozens of delicious and diverse dumplings
Taste Budds Cooking Studio has a motto of….. Cook it, eat it and enjoy it. Of course the "it" they are talking about is GREAT FOOD.
If you are like me and find dumplings so moreish that you love to gorge on them, then this class is perfect for you. The Taste Budds Dim Sum class teaches you how make delicious dumplings so you can indulge in as many as you like or impress your friends and family with your culinary skills.
Sophie Budd describing the fresh and delicious produce and ingredients
In this fun hands-on class, chef Sophie Budd taught us how to prepare an assortment of delicious fillings and then make scrumptious batches of fresh dumplings. We then tasted the fruits of our labour and ate our fill of delicious dumplings.
At tables of 4, each group in the class made different elements of the menu. The dumpling fillings included flavoursome shrimp, shitake mushrooms with coriander and ginger, pork and cabbage and spiced potato and tofu. We also prepared a selection of accompanying dipping sauces.
The real fun began after a demonstration from Sophie, on how to fold and create the dumplings and we started forming our own assortment of designs. We then tucked in, devouring the divine steamed and "pot stickered" dumplings. We made so many dumplings, we even took a selection home to enjoy for lunch the next day.
I am impressed by Sophie Budd's wonderful ethos around food and people. Her aim is to teach people how to cook from scratch using simple, workable recipes so they can cook for friends and family and enjoy eating together and having conversations around the table. Sophie is a Food Rescue Ambassador and promotes Buy West Eat Best. She sources her produce from local WA suppliers whenever possible and harvests from the garden at Perth City Farm, just a few kilometres away.
