Set between Grand Junction Road and Tasman Avenue, Gilles Plains, the is a newer playground on the banks of Dry Creek.

It is not a large playground, but what equipment is there can offer a challenge for children. Some of the climbing activities can be quite difficult, but not impossibly so, and my own children have been kept amused there for long periods of time.

There are also some well-kept paths through the area perfect for walking and riding bikes, some wide grassed areas for playing ball games, flying kites and frisbees (both quite common last summer) and even for picnics. There is also Dry Creek itself, giving some interesting places for the more adventurous to explore. Further, there are a few tables with attached benches in the area, giving spots where families can set themselves.

It also seems to be an area that attracts a variety of bird-life. Early in the morning the numbers of bird species, from water birds to kookaburras, can be quite spectacular.

In all, a nice little playground and surrounds that is well worth spending a few hours exploring.
