Meeting our new Zoo Friends
Taronga Zoo Sydney is located on Bradleys Head Road, Mosman. The family and I launched into a cold winter's day weekend adventure, mostly because I wanted to visit the bay Indonesian tigers.
Firstly the zoo was very busy we arrived at lunchtime. A good weekend Taronga Zoo hack would be to visit the zoo early when it opens to miss the crowd.
When we finally found parking, we lined up got our tickets, then lined up again to enter missing the bird show that starts at twelve. We went straight to see the Thai elephant. Up nice and close, we managed to show the kids the young Asian elephant called 'Luk Chai'.
The kids loved the young elephant, then we were off to see the Indonesian tigers. Tiger Trek is an Indonesian-themed immersive experience, where you first go through a plane ride over Sumatra, dropped off into an Indonesian village to see the tigers and three cubs, Mawar, Tengah and Pemanah.
More Zoo Hacks - take a packed lunch and drinks as food is really expensive. There are lots of park benches and picnic areas at the Zoo.
The gorillas had a young one also. Not such a baby anymore, he was born around August 2018. His name is 'Mahali', which means 'an event' in Swahili. He is very cool, beating his chest, being active and play up to the crowd.
