A special birthday invitation
Our much loved zoo with spectacular views of Sydney is turning 100 this year and in recognition of this centenary there is entry for everyone on their individual birth date for just $1. Whether your birthday is in February or December, come along and enjoy all that is on offer at this incredible wildlife park.
This is great if you're twins, you can both get in on the same visit together, and great if you're single and want to come alone. For couples, whilst one can get in for $1 on his or her birthday, the other will pay normal admission price. You could even share the cost between yourselves and you're still saving a decent sum. Visiting with children, under 4 year olds are free as always.
Whether you go alone or with family and friends, the zoo is always a good day out and if it's been a while since your last visit to Taronga then take another look as there is a whole lot more to do now on the cheap. See the new meerkat pups born in January (the first in seven years), daily shows and talks, experience the elephant stilt-house or chill out at the twilight concerts until the end of March. For the adventurous, the Wild Ropes courses will challenge you, and for the ultimate sleepover, Roar and Snore in safari style tents, will see you waking up to gorgeous views. Additional costs apply for some experiences.
You will need to register online, take your printed receipt on the day along with valid proof of your birth date to the ticket desk to receive $1 entry. Acceptable proof documents are birth certificate, current driver's licence, state issued proof of age card and passport. A special Taronga Zoo centenary badge will be given to each birthday person to wear and keep as a memento. Watch out for special moments that will happen as you wander around.
On 7th October, the zoo's official birthday, the party of the year will take place with amazing animal experiences, unique presentations and a whole lot more festivities. To get on the guest list you need to enter the ballot to be in the running to win a ticket to this exclusive event. You can choose your preference of a double pass or a family pass.
Be on the guest list for the VIP Party
Note the park will be closed to the general public on this date. Don't worry if your birthday falls on this day and you're not one of the lucky 5000 to win a ticket to the party, you can still get $1 entry on any other day during October with same proof of birth date.
Food options are plentiful with Taronga Piazza, Cafe Harbourview, The View restaurant, Taronga Food Market and other delicious outlets on hand to satisfy your appetite. You can also bring your own picnic and rug to relax on the lawns.
Getting to the park is easy with ferries from both Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. Alternatively, bus it on route 247 from Wynyard or Town Hall (QVB). There is car parking onsite but it comes at a cost of $17 for the day.
Help celebrate this park that brings wildlife and people together. Even your $1 entry goes towards ensuring a brighter future for wildlife.
