I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.

Watch Taronga's animals 24/7 from your own home
Taronga Zoo has made it easy to enjoy its incredible animals at home with the introduction of a new, virtual experience: Taronga TV. This series of live-streams and pre-recorded videos allows you to enjoy the zoo without even setting foot in it. Plus, it's all free.
I tuned in to the elephant live-stream in time to see a young elephant playing with a log hanging from a rope in full view of the camera.
Launched on April 1st 2020 (don't worry, it's not an April Fool's joke, just a response to the recent closure of the zoo to the public) the zoo has already put together three live-streams, including animals from both Taronga Zoo and Taronga Western Plains Zoo. These include the Sumatran Tigers, Asian Elephants and the seals at the Greater Southern Oceans precinct.
The live-streams run 24/7 and can be viewed here on the Taronga Zoo website or on its YouTube page. Taronga has, helpfully, also posted some of the best times to check-in (9.30am and 2.15pm for the Sumatran Tigers, for example, which is when they're fed).
All photos I took were between 2.15pm and 2.45pm and indeed it was a good time se see the tigers. Can you spot three in this image?
Taronga Zoo is jumping on the back of a trend amongst zoos with this live cam series (Zoos Victoria already has its Animal House program running). However, Taronga Zoo has taken its virtual zoo experience one step further by putting up the feeding sessions, keeper talks and live shows that usually take place as well. It even shows you what's going on at its Wildlife Hospitals, where vets rehabilitate rescued wildlife.
The pre-recorded videos are particularly great when the animals aren't visible on the live-streams. I haven't been able to catch a seal yet, for example. The most I got was a human diver.
I've been enjoying the live streams that Zoos Victoria has been offering so I'll definitely be checking in on Taronga TV now, especially knowing they'll be adding more over the next few weeks. Already, they've announced plans for a series of educational resources, which will be perfect for all those kids who are stuck at home right now.
