The Modern and Classical Arab Music (MACAM) group will be hosting another sell out show, " Tarab at Twilight ," featuring Sydney's top Arabic musicians and singers.

On June 26th at the beautiful Goethe Institut , Sydneysiders will have the rare opportunity to see some of the most talented musicians from the Middle East showcasing their talent on a musical odyssey that 'elates the soul'.

Zeina Issa, founder of MACAM had this to say about the upcoming show, "Highly acclaimed tarab musicians are presenting Middle Eastern music with an exciting and refreshing approach. Incorporating the guitar within the frame of a traditional Arabic music ensemble is a daring move, where also a famous western piece will be presented with an Arabic flavour. Expect a virtuoso performance."

Tarab at Twilight's intriguing repertoire emphasises highly sophisticated compositions and music arrangements. The concert will feature a music ensemble of some of Sydney's best masters of tarab, playing traditional Arabic instruments such as the oud and qanun.

The guest singer is Rami El Mir , winner of the silver medal in Studio El Fan, a renowned Lebanese talent show. Rami is a passionate singer whose melodic voice will stay with you long after the concert is over.

Zeina established the not-for-profit MACAM group in 2015 to promote local Arabic artists of music and song. She feels that art is a wonderful communicator and the MACAM group is there to help bridge the gap between Western and Middle Eastern societies through art and music. The organization also exists to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Middle Eastern music for future generations to enjoy.

Zeina explained that in recent years Sydney has had an influx of highly professional masters of tarab, musicians who are leaders in their field. The artists were forced to migrate from their countries of origin because of unsettled political situations and security reasons. Zeina said, "They managed to land in a safe nation and gain security and peace of mind, however in return they lost the opportunity to share their skills and brilliant capabilities with their audience."

She continued to say that high quality Arabic musical performances, especially tarab music recitals have become quite rare, almost non-existent in Sydney. MACAM Group is endeavouring to open a window of opportunity where other doors have closed, and hopes that as a result the whole community will become enriched.

In addition to a wonderful afternoon of gorgeous music, afternoon tea will be provided, with many delicious Lebanese delicacies both savoury and sweet.

Tarab at Twilight was a huge success last year, and it had a very mixed audience with a large number of non-Arabic speakers. The group of musicians have worked diligently to ensure that their upcoming concert is inventive and spectacular. The aim is to captivate their audience with Middle Eastern tunes
