Back in the 90's Haddaway asked us - 'what is love?' And now, more than two decades later, we finally have some answers (and plenty of laughs) thanks to comedian, actor and singer Tara Rankine in her cabaret show 'Love is a Work In Progress' as part of the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival...

Welcome to Tara's heart! It's big, open and it's ready to pour itself out for the next two weeks at Tasman Terrace in East Melbourne...

This intimate show is a deeply funny and at times moving journey through the various 'loves' of Tara's wild and wonderful past. From Rockstar (mind-blowing, throw you around the room...) love to Awkward (you're going to have to reach in and fish it out...) love. From Addictive (I want you even though you're so bad for me...) to BFF (inseparable, dinner party throwing...) love.

Tara weaves together her memories of elation, confusion and heartache using brilliant storytelling, clever lyrics, soulful vocals and plenty of sexy red props...

Add a couple of inflatables, a bit of audience participation and strategically placed sequins and the audience is off on a hilarious, fast-paced ride through Tara's tunnel of luurrve...

But as we know, love is not all red roses, satin sheets and hot, sweaty nights... Love is a battlefield (yes, another cheesy love song reference!) and Tara's show does have a dark and serious side too - that may bring you to tears (like it did for me).

The heartbreak of losing someone you love, suddenly and tragically is something that will stop anyone dead in their tracks... especially if you're on the other side of the world, or have not been in contact with them for a while.

So the message is to love hard or go home! Embrace love in all its forms - especially self love! Tara helps us remember what we love most about ourselves, she reminds us to tell our friends and family that we love them - and to most of all to enjoy the deliciousness of love while we can!
