Taps in the valley, launches a new delicious burger menu
Taps in Fortitude Valley is a small bar in the Brunswick Street Mall with a big reputation. Their great range of self-service beer attracts a big crowd on Friday and Saturday nights and now they are expanding their menu to include burgers for the lunch time and early evening crowd.
Self-service means no waiting at the bar: just pour your own beer right at the table. You obtain a pre-paid electronic button which use to pay for the beers. The self-service taps also include interactive screens that can tell you more about the beer selection available at that tap.
There is more to Taps than that though. They have a wide selection of beers, including craft and boutique options. Self-service means that bar staff have more time to talk to customers about cocktail, beer and wine choices. This means staff are providing real service, not just mechanically pouring drinks.
At the same time, there is nothing pretentious about the bar. This is a bar run by people who want to create a fun and welcoming environment to attract a crowd with a great vibe. They put time and effort into the design of the bar and the selection of food and drinks.
Taps has always served food, but with a focus on pizza and shareable bites like buffalo wings. The burger menu now makes it a better place to go for lunch or an excuse to head to the Valley early to have a meal before the party starts.
The burgers cover the full range. Meat lovers are going to have what they need, while vegans are also catered for as well. The chicken and seafood burgers are also excellent. Taps, as always, manages to find the balance between innovation, artisanal and pretentious. You will appreciate the effort they have put into designing their new burgers, but they are still great classic burgers.
So Taps is a great place to go for drinks at any time, but especially on Friday and Saturday nights when things become busy. Go with a group of friends, buy a button, load it with cash, and enjoy the selection of beers without having to worry about queuing at a crowded bar or having to leave a credit card at the bar to cover your tab. Of course don't be afraid to talk to the staff about the beer and drink selections.
