An evening of musical talent
Tapestry - a Maleny Chamber Choir - and Friends are performing at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, on Friday 19 August 2016.

Under the direction of Ten Tenors co-founder, Kim Kirkman, Tapestry - a mixed choral ensemble of sixteen members - perform songs arranged for four-part a capella* singing. Tapestry have been performing for sixteen years and have developed a broad repertoire - from Australian bush ballads, pop songs, old English madrigals to traditional choir pieces and jazz standards.
The Choir have, this year, been expanding their repertoire to include a Kirby Shaw Arrangement of 'The Way You Look Tonight'; a famous Korean folk song (Arirang) and Reginald Spofforth's Christmas glee, 'Hail! Smiling Morn'.

The "Friends" performers for this performance include soloist Kelli Dendle and Kim Kirkman (harp). The Goodwills (Bob and Laurel Wilson), who are well known through the ABC's Sunday morning programme, 'Australia All Over', are performing a set of original contemporary folk songs.
Friends of the Gallery will be operating a cash bar from 6.45pm and also during intermission.
*A capella (Italian for "in the manner of the chapel") music is specifically group or solo singing without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. It contrasts with cantata, which is accompanied singing - en.wikipedia.org
