Tapas Cafe and Bar, Torquay

Talk about great responsibility! Nowadays, whenever I go to dine out somewhere different my author eyes and ears take over. I feel compelled to write a review of the cafe, bar, hotel, restaurant, activity or event. I'm not complaining. I am able to combine two of my favourite hobbies into writing for Weekend Notes. I enjoy writing and photography and Weekend Notes gives me a great outlet for both these hobbies.

Last Sunday we headed down the highway to Torquay. We strolled around the streets, checking out the shops, looking for somewhere to sit down and enjoy a coffee. We walked into Gilbert Street and found a lovely cafe, with dining indoors and out. We found the Tapas Cafe and Bar.

It was a very clean restaurant with friendly staff and prompt service. We ordered cappuccinos, I ordered Turkish pannini and my friend ordered a ham and cheese toasty. We didn't have to wait long for our coffee or food. There were lots of tables and chairs inside the restaurant and a lot of tables and chairs out on the sidewalk, with umbrellas above the tables.

The restaurant is called the Tapas Bar and Cafe so there was a range of alcohol lined up behind the bar. As it was only about 9.30am we only ordered coffee, however I am sure that it would be just as nice to go to the Tapas Bar and Cafe at night and have a drink and chat, order some of their menu choices and chill out.

The whole restaurant was interesting, as there was a lot of decorative items out on display. The wall leading to the kitchen was particularly interesting. I try to be discrete when I take photos in restaurants or cafes so hopefully I have captured some of the mood of the place. Perhaps I need to stop being so shy and start asking people if they mind me taking some photos.

The prices were reasonable. The place was clean, neat and tidy. The toilet, behind the orange door, was also clean.
