Tango Fire - dance like no one is watching
The Argentinian Company, Tango Fire presents a kaleidoscope of new answers to what is tango. These zesty dancers know all the rules of tango and yet it is obvious that they have thrown away the rulebook!
The five couples dance to an excellent line-up of musicians. It is a true delight to hear a live band perform on stage. A key instrument in a typical tango band is the Bandoneon and sure enough, centre stage is the Bandoneon player. The band entertains us with traditional tango music as well old favorites composed by the fathers of Tango, that being Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla.
Originally Tango was where the slaves of Buenos Aires had their musical gatherings. I smile to myself. Here we are in 2016, I have witnessed this fiery show set for kings. The Playhouse is a crowded place tonight. All around I hear people shouting "Bravo", they are clapping, some are singing along with the music. This show makes me want to dance. It makes me want to glide on the dance floor and fly through the air to the sounds of the tango.
