With its highly acclaimed butter chicken curry, Tandoori Times Indian restaurant is a neighbourhood favourite in Fitzroy. Among the casual joints on Gertrude street, this one is a sure pick to enjoy with friends and family.

As in the name, traditional cylindrical clay oven or tandoori-cooked dishes are Tandoori Times' strength. The secret in the aromatic butter chicken is the smokiness of the tandoori meat, richly flavoring the butter sauce. Naan, or Indian bread, is baked fluffily in the tandoori.

The restaurant offers an extensive menu, consisting of beloved dishes from all over India and other parts of the world, including the UK, where the establishment of Indian flavours is an evolving fact. It is as though the restaurant has carefully studied the popularity trend of their own cuisine among the general mass. This includes their sensitivity to provide wide range of spiciness from one chilli label to five. Vindaloo, made with either beef or lamb, is one of the spicier curries with an addictive depth.

One of the milder choices is spinach and cheese. This vegetarian curry is a satisfying dish, sure to please everybody at your table.

Tandoori Times is BYO. Although Fitzroy is their original shop, the same taste is prepared in St. Kilda and Yarraville.
