3 course feasts @ CERES
Tamil Feasts Facebook

There is a belief at the base of Tamil culture that serving food to others is a service to humanity

The cuisine is lovely and based around rice, legumes, and lentils, with distinct flavouring and spices from curry leaves, mustard seeds, ginger, garlic, chilli, green cardamom, cumin, nutmeg, and rosewater.

At CERES, proud Tamil cooks are keen to share their culinary skills and culture with you.

For $20, you can embark on a three course meal that includes a vegetarian banquet of curries, chutneys, vadai, dahl, kormas, and masalas.

This is a great chance to experience authentic Tamil cuisine rarely found outside of Sri Lanka.

And it is even suitable for vegans, and gluten-free! This is accidental, as the dishes served just so happens to be suitable for both. But useful to know, in case you fall into either category.

These feasts aim to raise community awareness of issues facing asylum seekers, while demonstrating the valuable contribution asylum seekers make to our society.

The feasts create part time work for Tamil men. It gives them hospitality experience, and you a great night out at an economical price.

There are two more dates coming up at CERES in June (23rd and 30th), but I am sure other dates will be forthcoming.

Oh yum, I shouldn't read these types of reviews before dinner. I love Indian/ Sri Lankan food, so much flavour.

Please note kormas and masalas are not a representation of traditional Sri Lankan Tamil cuisine. In fact neither are commonly served in Sri Lanka.
