When I dream of street food, Indian street food tops my list. The tangy spicy chutneys add so much zing to the food. This is a classic tamarind date chutney, which is real easy to whip.

Tangy zingy chutney
Ingredients 1/2 cup pitted dates
A small ball of tamarind pulp
1 tsp of cumin seeds
A pinch of Rock salt to suit your taste
To make the chutneySoak the dates in boiling hot water (just enough that to half submerge the dates) for 20 minutes.
Soak the ball of tamarind fully in hot water for 20 minutes.
Squeeze the tamarind well in the water to remove any trailing threads or seeds.
Now add the two pulps to a blender along with some cumin and salt. Blend it to a paste. Add some extra salt for seasoning if you feel like it.
This chutney is supposed to have a sweet sour taste and can be eaten with some aloo tiki, samosa or chaat.
