Tallangatta Homes open up their garages and driveways in a huge Garage Sale Weekend on Sunday 18th September from 8.00am to 2.00pm.

The 16th Annual Garage Sales Festival is on in Tallangatta, and it's huge and lots of fun. I went to last year's Garage Sales Festival and it was huge. There were so many homes that held Garage Sales on the day. You could pick up a map from the information centre, and walk from place to place, with each home on the map holding a garage sale.

From memory, there were about 30 to 35 homes that held garage sales during the Garage Sale Festival in 2013. Most homes had all their wares on display, up and down their driveways, under car ports, in garages. There were clothes, bric a brac, car parts, books, jigsaws, childrens games, and more.

The garage sales start at 8.00am and run until 2.00pm. You can walk to the different houses, or if you're a real garage sale junkie like me, you might need to take your car from home to home, so you don't have to carry all your purchases.

You can pick up your map from the information centre. The information centre is on the green triangles, opposite the shopping strip in Towong Street, Tallangatta. You can pick up your map from 7.30am, onwards.

Tallangatta is a town in north-eastern Victoria, Australia. The town lies on the banks of the Mitta Arm of Lake Hume, approximately south-east of Albury-Wodonga along the Murray Valley Highway. Tallangatta is about a 30 minute drive from Wodonga.

The Founder of the Garage Sales Festival was Mary Aldrich, who says her idea hinged on attracting visitors from outside Tallangatta. Mary says "It works well in a small town like Tallangatta because you're not going to get people driving out from Albury and Wodonga for just one garage sale."

Come for the garage sales, check out the shops, and have a meal at the small cafes on the main street, or dine at the Victoria Hotel or Tallangatta Hotel. Cheers and hope to see you there.
