The acclaimed play, Talking to Terrorists by Robin Soans, comes to King Street Theatre for a strictly limited season this May.Presented by Emu Productions, by arrangement with The Agency (London) Ltd, the Australian Premiere season runs from 23rd May to 3rd June 2017. Tickets are now on sale.Commissioned by the Royal Court and Out of Joint in 2005, Talking to Terrorists is presented in the style of verbatim theatre with all the dialogue derived from real interviews with people who have been affected by or involved in terrorism.Theses interviews are recreated on stage and the subjects of these interviews, which includes peacemakers, journalists and hostages, were interviewed by writer Robin Soans, director Max Stafford–Clark, and the actors. Each subject speaks candidly and bravely about what makes ordinary people do extreme things, often at a shockingly young age. Their stories take us from Africa, Israel, Turkey, Iraq and Ireland to the heart of the British Establishment. "One story we heard seemed particularly significant. A relief-worker told us of arriving at a large village which had been completely destroyed. The people there were angry not because they had nothing to eat and nowhere to live but because no one had listened to their story of what had happened. ... A huge part of what we call terrorism arises from no one listing" she said.'Robin Soans & Max Stafford-ClarkeAn insightful, engaging and timely production, Talking to Terrorists is a must see at the King Street Theatre this May.
