One girl, one piano (with pianist), and a vast array of songs. Trust me, that is all you need for a good nights entertainment.I had the pleasure of attending Bobbie-Jean Henning's '' last night, at Coorparoo Secondary College. Bobbie-Jean has recently returned to Brisbane after graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, and brings with her this utterly entrancing solo cabaret.



The cabaret tells the tale of Kittie, a songstress from the 1920's, who uncontrollably travels through time. Finding her way through each of the eras she lands in, she sings about the people she's met, the places she's been, and the experiences she's encountered along the way.



The hour long show is a roller coaster of emotions, from the incredible highs to the heartbreaking lows.

The raw emotion portrayed in her performance of 'Losing My Mind' (from Sondheim's 'Follies') left me speechless and welling up, and offered a stark contrast from the hilarity that ensued during Kitties's experience of the 90s (addressed in song with 'If My Friends Could See Me Now' from Sweet Charity).

The cabaret features a number of songs that smartly show off the wide range of Bobbie-Jean's voice, from her enchanting version of Nat King Cole's 'Nature Boy' through to the powerful 'Chandelier' by Sia.



From the minute she stepped on stage, I was captivated. The sole focus was 'Kittie,' and I was immediately transported into the magical and glamorous world of this time travelling songstress.
