Canadians are, in the view of those who don't know any, polite, apologetic and shy. Which is about as accurate as all Scotsmen are mean and all Africans have natural rhythm.

Certainly there's not too much shy and retiring about Canadian Shirley Gnome, who's show C*untry Music played to sold out houses at the Edinburgh and Edmonton Fringe Festivals in 2016.

Her form of music comedy shows is unique and a clear pure sweet voice she regales audiences with 'original music, standup comedy, wickedly inventive lyrics, and biting social commentary' and wrapped in what a critic has called 'a dirty, dirty mind'.

Accompanying herself on a guitar she has appeared at shows across North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. If you'd like a sample of her work, her YouTube channel can be seen here .

Her newest show, enticingly called Taking it Up the Notch, runs at two venues for the Fringe World .

She will be at the Freo Royale in the Federal Hotel, 23 William Street Fremantle at 9:30pm from the 27th to the 29th January and at the Laksa Lounge in the Noodle Palace, 19 Francis Street, Northbridge from the 31st January to the 8th February at 10:00pm.

Needless to say, this is an eighteen only show with strong coarse language and adult themes.
