Taken 2 is a French action film and is the sequel to the 2008 movie Taken, which stars Liam Neeson. I recently found some free time to watch the movie at the cinema this weekend and realised that this film was a disappointment when compared to its prequel. The original Taken made quite a name for Liam Neeson as a credible action hero. Neeson's character in the original film was capable of remaining likeable, even though he was killing many people throughout the film. In this particular sequel, he just seemed to be very boring at times.
Neeson's character seems too cliché in this film. He is doing things that many action heroes in so many previous films have done, saving people who have been kidnapped. There does not seem to be very much originality with his character or the plot itself. Many of the characters throughout the film did not have much personality themselves. A positive aspect of the film is the action. The action sequences are very entertaining and keeps viewers wondering how Neeson survived some of the events in the film.
Overall, Taken 2 is a mediocre sequel but with some very good action sequences throughout the film. If you enjoy seeing excessive amounts of violence in a film with no regards for a good plot, then this film is recommended for you. This film, however, would not satisfy those individuals who would rather enjoy a film with a good mixture of both features.
