TAFE NSW - Hairdressing and Barbering Ultimo

Technically this is not the cheapest haircut in Sydney as the homeless can get free haircuts in Martin Place. However, this is believed to be the cheapest haircut for people who are not homeless. Would you imagine being able to get a haircut for $2 (or $5 if you are a female)? But what's the catch? Well, a student training to be a hairdresser or barber will probably cut your hair. To take advantage of this amazingly cheap price you should go to the Marcus Clark (Building W) of Ultimo TAFE, which is conveniently located just across from Central Station at 817/827-837 George Street. It is recommended to call them beforehand on 79208975 just to check opening times and confirm availability.
The prices mentioned above are for what is described as 'haircut including basic styling'. If you require something more involved such as balayage, scalp bleach, foils, colour correction, chemical straightening, perming or tint you will be charged more (see the image showing price list).
There is also a whole range of other beauty services offered including a variety of different massages. These amazingly cheap services are not known to be advertised or promoted anywhere, so it is likely very few people know about them.
When you arrive you will have to complete a waiver form with various boxes to tick saying things like you don't mind being photographed (I wasn't photographed anyway when I went) and that you don't have any symptoms of coronavirus, etc. You will then go to a room, which resembles a normal hair salon. After the haircut, you pay by credit card only (no cash accepted) at the main reception desk.
