Get ready to wear that green and gold as the Australian cricket team takes on India in the first and only Twenty 20 International cricket match in Sydney this season. However, this time there is a slight difference. For the first time ever the Australian cricket team will play an international cricket fixture at ANZ Stadium.

The stadium located at Sydney Olympic Park is most famously known for holding the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. It now gets to add international cricket to its growing resume of global events. Since the 2000 Olympics it has hosted a multitude of events including the 2003 Rugby World Cup, two different U2 concert tours, the record breaking ACDC concerts and the memorable Australia v Uruguay FIFA World Cup Qualifier taking Australia into the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Currently the stadium has seating available to cater for in excess of 80,000 people. If the match is to sell out this will make it the largest ever crowd to attend any form of cricket match in Sydney. Currently the record stands at 54,446 when Australia played England at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the season of 1928-29. Rumour has it that close to 70,000 tickets have been sold which will already make history.

ANZ Stadium's unique configuration will allow the majority of the crowd to be sitting over the bowlers arm as the pitch will be facing the two major stands, east and west respectively. Another advantage to this configuration is that the shortest boundaries in the stadium will also be to the east and west. These boundaries are quite possibly the shortest boundaries for the straight drive in the entire country. So with the likes of David Warner, Virender Sehwag and M. S. Donhi stepping out to bat, my advice to you is be prepared for some catches. With the likes of Brett Lee coming back into the Australian squad it should be thrilling cricket.

To give you an idea of the type of entertainment to expect, the T20 Big Bash League matches this season at ANZ Stadium have included a pre match band, fireworks and music being played between each ball. As innings break entertainment the big screens have also been put into use. Love hearts have been placed around unsuspecting members of the crowd caught on camera encouraging them to kiss, an idea stolen from American baseball. If you are into public displays of affection on big screens watched by over 80,000 fans then this might be for you. This has all added to the atmosphere that has become synonymous with Twenty 20 cricket.

If you are also looking for a little bit of girl power, the pre match to Australia and India will be the Women's Twenty 20 International featuring cross Tasman rivals Australia and New Zealand. So if you are looking to be a part of history or just hoping to have a great night out, there is definitely something entertaining for everyone. Tickets for the Wednesday February 1st match are on sale now.
