I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Enjoy some beautiful music under the stars in the peaceful Parramatta Park. This event is a much anticipated part of Sydney Festival and provides an opportunity for the residents of western Sydney to enjoy classical music on their doorsteps.
From 6:30pm the pre concert of talented young musicians from Western Sydney promises to be exciting and high energy and an upbeat introduction to the evening. The program for the main concert is diverse and is conducted by Benjamin Northey. Expect to hear music from Berlioz, Debussy & Haydn and there will be familiar pieces such as Adventures on Earth from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Princess Leia's Theme from Star Wars and the 1812 Overture.. At 10pm the finale includes fireworks and you will leave smiling and uplifted.
Be entertained by performances such as this from the 2017 event.
The event is smoke free and food trucks and stalls will be on site, byo alcohol as none will be sold on the night. Picnic blankets and low chairs are encouraged for the enjoyment of everyone and higher chairs are to be placed at the back of The Crescent. This is a family friendly event and well behaved fur babies are welcome. There is accessible parking available as well as a VIP accessible viewing area.
Parramatta Park will be car free from 2pm but there is parking nearby as well as plenty of public transport options. Symphony Under The Stars will be on rain, hail or shine but if weather conditions are extreme there will be updates on their facebook page.
I have really enjoyed this event when I have attended in the past there is a wonderful atmosphere as everyone is there to enjoy the music and environment.
