I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
You may have your activities planned for daylight hours of Australia Day, but have you thought about what you'll do in the evening? Perhaps you're up for a picnic under the stars, enjoying some good food and classical music?
Part of the Sydney Festival, Symphony in The Domain allows guests to relax on the grass of The Domain as they enjoy a twilight performance from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. It doesn't cost a thing, and is the perfect way to wind-down from a fun-filled Australia Day.
The event will run from 8.00pm until just before midnight (11.55pm) and will feature Gustav Holst's stunning orchestral suite The Planets, which will be interspersed with readings by John Bell from Bell Shakespeare. The evening with end with a spectacular fireworks display at midnight.
If you don't already have plans for Australia Day, you may consider checking out one of the concerts in the Harbour Concert Series, which will take place on floating stages at Blues Point, Darling Harbour and Athol Bay. The Big Issue Street Football Festival will also be running over in Darling Harbour, as homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged men and women compete in the National Championships of the Community Street Soccer Program on a purpose built floating soccer pitch.
