Port Stephens

Port Stephens is a gorgeous place which is easily accessible. Connected with frequent trains and buses from Sydney Central, Port Stephens is located only 200km away from the city and is recommended for everybody - for couples who want to spend a romantic weekend sailing around the bay, and for families with kids who want to have an adventure in the biggest dune in Australia.

Port Stephens has a bit of everything; hills populated with a vast vegetation, crystal clear water with dolphins, whales and tropical fishes, dunes with camels and forests with eucalyptus and wild koalas.

The easiest way to find accommodation is through the Port Stephens Visitor Information website, where you can also find information about the place, things to do and getting there and around.

If you are thinking on go there for a weekend, here are a few ideas that can help you plan your itinerary:

Go to One Mile Beach near Anna Bay where, besides swimming, you can get to see wild koalas.

Book a Dolphin Cruise that leaves every morning at 10:30 am from Nelson Bay.

Enjoy a 4WD sand dune adventure.

Climb the little Tomaree Headland hill in Shoal Bay to get panoramic views of the Bay.

Hand feed sharks and rays at the Australian Shark and Ray Centre.

Brewery tour at Murrays Brewery.

With these few tips, I am sure that you'll find at least something to enjoy - so head to Port Stephens to enjoy this little pearl of New South Wales.
