Sing, sip, skate and celebrate Christmas in & around Sydney
We may be in the southern hemisphere and sweltering by the time we get to December, but dotted around Sydney the heat won't stop the Santa spirit swinging into top gear with these Christmassy shows. There's something for everyone, young and old, musical, crafty, foodie and active:
Variety Christmas Walk - for kids that can't Kick off your Christmas celebrations with a truly worthy cause and support those with a disability. Wear anything red, and walk the fully accessible 2km or 5km walk, starting at Pyrmont Bay Park between the Maritime Museum and The Star. There'll be live entertainment, face-painting, jumping castles and a free Santa hat. Accessible amenities will be available at the start and finish line. For more details, click here.

The Christmas Fair Christmas markets at Mt. Penang Gardens on the Central Coast kick off the merry month with a shopping hit. This will be the largest outdoor shopping event on the Central Coast with 160 market stalls of art and craft, puddings and plenty to eat and drink. Don't miss the pop-up Six String Brewery Bar.
The Lights of Christmas Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Christmas calendar is the nightly light show at St. Mary's Cathedral, providing a free sound and light show every night. Choirs will sing carols WHEN: December 6 - 25, commencing 7.30pm - midnight
Sydney Santa Spectacular Possibly the closest you'll get to a white Christmas while living in Sydney, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is the perfect venue for a Santa-style theme park. A giant ice-skating rink, an enchanted forest, toboggan slides, Christmas craft workshops and cookie decorating will keep the kids enthralled all day. Christmas Fare, Hyde Park Barracks Museum
One of Sydney Living Museums comes to life with 40 stalls of gourmet goodies, festive fun, artisans products, entertainment and food. A simple gold coin entry will give you access to the Museum, where you can enjoy the enigmatic ambience of this Unesco World Heritage site. Register here.

400 choristers from the Combined Church Choirs will perform Handel's Messiah at Sydney Town Hall. Accompanied by the Town Hall grand organ and the Sydney Messiah Orchestra, this will be the 77th performance of a truly spectacular and unforgettable evening of choral music.

Carols in the Domain
More for the musically-inclined with the annual line-up of stars belting out all the best Christmas carols. Activities start at midday and the main carols at 7.45pm. If you really love singing! then head to Martin Place where, every night from 6pm-8pm leading up to Christmas, carols and choir performances will take place. They're also on in Pitt Street Mall on Thursday nights and weekends 6pm - 8pm, so you can get your shopping done at the same time.
