Are the Autumn holidays around the corner already? It feels like we just packed away the Christmas tree. If you are looking for ways to conquer boredom over the break, there is plenty on offer for kids of all ages in Sydney over Easter.

From cooking classes to Council run activities, museums to parklands, you're sure to find loads of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Here are my picks for Sydney's Top 10 Easter Holiday Programmes:

1. Local Council and Library School Holiday Events
This is the best place to start trawling for great local kids activities over the holidays. Whether you're looking for low cost vacation care, great free daily family events or specially themed library storytimes and crafts, you'll find them on your local council's website.

2. Australian National Maritime Museum
There is something here for sailors of all sizes, especially during school holidays. Over Easter, the ANMM is running their excellent Kids on Deck programme for 3-5's ($8.50 per child). These maritime themed activities include education, story and craft elements. Book older kids (8-14), into their holiday Youth Workshop- Flying Fish! Stop-Motion And Claymation ($40). 3. Kids Cooking Classes
Start 'em early, I say! My kids have been in the kitchen since they were tiny tots and I'm sure that's one of the reasons I have been lucky enough to have 2 little foodies. The Junior Masterchef craze is sweeping Sydney and there are some great cooking classes for kids being run over the Easter holidays. Here are some of the best:

4. Royal Botanic Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens run School Holiday Activities designed for children 6-12 years each holiday term. Come and wander the fairyland surrounds before joining the Party Plants session where kids can discover some of the weird and wonderful tropical plants in the Garden. Learn how different cultures on the Pacific Rim used these plants for music, food and fun, and make your own musical instrument! And all for only $15 per child.

5. Kids in the Park
Kids in the Park is massive fun for kids of all ages, whatever their passion. This school holiday program will run this summer from the 6-22 April 2012, providing boredom-busting solutions for parents and carers. With over 50 activities to choose from, Kids in the Park offers an exciting choice of entertainment, arts, recreation and sporting options every school holidays.

6. Taronga Zoo Adventures
Any little animal lover will love mum and dad for this one! Whether you're looking for a fun family day out or need full day vacation care supervision for your child these holidays, the Taronga Zoo Adventures school holiday program is jam packed with fun and excitement! The kids will have so much fun, they won't even realize they are learning a thing or two along the way.


7. Art Gallery NSW
Art Gallery NSW run wonderful Art Programs each school holidays You'll find Printmaking workshops, Gallery Tours and Performances each season. For the most up to date timetable of classes visit the kids section of their website.

8. Powerhouse Museum
The Powerhouse Museum is a must-do during School Holidays, no matter age, the kids will have a great day here in Sydney's most popular Museum. $10 entry, kids under 4 are FREE. They always run an excellent variety of holiday programmes-this year, don't miss the last weeks of Harry Potter exhibition and somegreat related wizard-y activities for the kids.



9. Centennial Parklands
Centennial Park is an excellent place to spend a few hours any time of the year but over the school holidays, there is even more reason to visit. Monday-Friday they have fabulous, low cost programs running for kids from 3-12. Pony Rides, Tennis Camps, bushcraft and much more. 10. NSW National Parks
NSW has hundreds of beautiful national parks and almost all of them have excellent school holiday events over Easter. Boys and girls can get up close and personal with nature in all her glory at these wonderful programs. Look for the Easter Bilby or learn about everything from Aboriginal Art to Stick Insects, at Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park, travel back in time to convict days at Botany Bay and Goat Island and so much more.
