The hotdog has come a long way since the Wendy's Shake 'n' Dog you had as a kid. It isn't enough to have a squirt of tomato sauce and mustard, now you need more. So we've decided it is a matter of great importance that we try to track down Sydney's best hot dog. We have some prime contenders, but we want to know your top hotdog picks.



Hot Didely Dog say they have the best hot dogs in town, but you'll need a taste test to see if they live up to this claim. On paper their menu certainly looks impressive. From the Husky to the Corgi, there are more than 10 hotdog varieties to choose from. Some interesting ones include the Labrador, containing sweet mango relish with mild mustard and cheddar cheese, or the St. Bernard with char-grilled vegetables with a bacon and chives dressing, cheese, and tabasco sauce. They have a permanent location on George Street, but also cater for events and parties.

El Loco may not have the breadth of the Hot Didely Dog menu, but their mexican inspired hotdog needs a mention. The Excelsior Hot Dog contains a grilled pork Frankfurt with pickled jalepenos, mayonnaise, cheese, and pico de gallo, a fresh tomato, onion, and chilli salsa. It might not be your usual Mexican fare, but this tasty hotdog goes down a treat with a pitcher of margaritas.

Stitch Bar also take some of their naming inspiration from some popular breeds. Their decadent French Poodle has a Toulouse style sausage with red wine and garlic with Tarago River Gippsland brie, pickled pear, and dijon mustard, and their Bulldog with black eyed beans, spicy tomato salsa, avocado, and jalepenos gives El Loco a run for its Mexican money. You might also want to try their Mack Ducky Dog, topped with a duck, orange, and pistachio sausage with duck pate and truffle sauce. Stitch's hot dogs are gourmet, turned all the way up to 11, and are a hotdog experience that just can't be missed.
