There is something special about riding with the wind in your hair on a bicycle. Whether you're going down to the local store to pick up some vegetables, or heading on a longer ride, you get to feel smug knowing that you're saving the world, and getting fit, all the while feeling like you're flying. So where is the best place in Sydney to go for a bike ride?

For every daring slope, there is a steep incline, and for any journey there is always the journey back. It can be tiring, but its always rewarding.

If you're looking for a nice place to ride, that is also great for the kids, then you might like Sydney Olympic Park. There are special areas for kids who might be a bit unsure, and you'll get to pass important aspects from the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Anyone can enjoy this track, from experienced bikers, to novice riders.

Heading along the coast is another great place to ride. If you're a fan of the beach you'll enjoy the gorgeous views. There are also some great places to stop along the way if you want to go for a swim or grab a bite to eat. If you take a ride down to the beach, then you don't have to worry about sand filling up your car on the way home.

There are bike tracks that run all through the city, so if you've got somewhere to go, then chances are you'll be able to ride there. You might enjoy the atmosphere of riding through the city, just make sure if you're heading along the roads that you're paying attention to the road rules and taking all the necessary precautions.

You don't even have to own a bike to enjoy Sydney's bike trails. You can hire a bike in the city, or at various bike hire places near other trails. Olympic Park definitely have some hire bikes available for you to enjoy their tracks. Bike hire is cheap, so if you can't commit to own your own bike make sure you check out hiring one.

There are so many other great bike tracks to head on. You don't have to have a destination to go for a bike ride, sometimes heading out on the track is the best bit. Try gorgeous paths in the Blue Mountains, or riding through suburbia. You can go riding with the kids, or head out alone to clear your head. So where do you enjoy to ride? Let us know, because we're looking for Sydney's best bike track.

I'm suprised you didn't mention Manly as a great place to ride in Sydney! there are over 20kms of dedicated bicycle paths along the beaches and the Sydney Harbour National Park. There is also an awesome mountain bike trail around the Manly Dam.

Hi Jono,
This list is in no way claiming to be Sydney's best bike tracks. :) We want readers to give their opinions on where the best places are.
I mentioned Olympic Park, the coast, and the city as just options. But we want people like you who know more about different areas to let us know what places are the best.
I love Manly, I'm sure many will agree it is a great place to ride.

The Bay Run can be a very pretty ride, although sometimes a little congested, it has a bike lane and can be picturesque.
