Sydney Writers' Festival also includes a Children's and YA Program. This year Glowtopia will transform the entire Pier 4 and 5 into a glittering pathway of children's authors and illustrators.

Whatever type of child you have, there is a different region to suit their taste in books and activities. They might enjoy The Ministry of Noise section held in the Sydney Dance viewing lounge. Story- telling to disco beats will get them grooving and interacting with stories they won't forget.

10.30am–1.30pm
Kinderling Kids Radio will be pumping out the disco beats with hosts Barry Divola and DJ Lorna Clarkson.

B'Tutta
2.30–3.30pm. Musica Viva brings you the fabulous percussion ensemble B'tutta. They will create the beats and rhythms to suit your stories.

Every child young and old likes a bit of silliness and this they will find in the Department of Stuff and Nonsense hosted by Felice Arena. A full program with more details is on the website. Free tickets can be found at the Glowtopia Tourist Information Booth on the western side of Pier 4/5.

See Frank Woodley the comedian, clown, actor, acrobat and writer. He is multi-talented and first started out as part of the acclaimed duo Lano and Woodley. Now he not only performs on stage, but has published his own books - Kizmet and the Case of the Tassie Tiger and Kizmet and the Case of the Smashed Violin.

The fun-filled program will have the kids entertained all day. There will be so much to see and do from watching live drawing battles with the best Illustrators and listening to authors and musicians to participating in games, puzzles and crafts.

Further on the pier your artistic darlings can enjoy flopping into a bean bag and watching a film, more craft making and live storytelling. There is so much on, you will need to check the full program to plan your day.

The young teens might prefer The Royal Institute of All Day YA. Here they can enjoy browsing through YA books and meet some of their favourite authors.

Russ the Story Bus will be there for book exchange, so bring all your old books that you can bear to part with and find some new treasures.

Throughout the day there will be roving kid reporters from Crinkling News, randomly picking anyone to interview and discuss who their favourite authors are and what they like most about the festival.

Glowtopia chararcters, Grug, Maisy, Where's Wally and Geronimo Stilton will be mixing in the crowd and available for some memorable selfies.

This will be a great opportunity to introduce young readers to new authors in a fun environment or encourage your children that won't leave the computer, to get out in the fresh air and discover books.
