The warmest indoor swimming pools in Sydney are the warm water program pool at Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre and the pool in the hydrotherapy centre at Ripples Leisure Centre in St Marys. Both of these pools are maintained at a cosy 34 degrees. In addition to the warm water program pool, the Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre has a huge range of aquatic areas including a wave pool, a rapid river, a waterslide and lap pools, so you can swim, slide or surf in cooler water and then jump back into the warm water program pool to warm up again. The hydrotherapy centre at Ripples Leisure Centre requires a separate entrance fee and is mainly targeted at rehabilitation, but the general public can still access the pool.
Warm water lap swimming can be a great way to get moving again on cold days
If you are looking to do some lap swimming, the warmest indoor public lap pools in Sydney are the 25 metre pools at the Des Renford Leisure Centre in Maroubra and at the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre in Lidcombe. Both of these pools sit at a cosy 32 degrees, which is at least two degrees warmer than most indoor lap pools in Sydney. If you are swimming in Des Renford's pool and the water still feels too cold, remind yourself that this marathon swimming legend swam the English Channel nineteen times and no one ever heard him complain about the cold.
The survey results include the temperature of all indoor public swimming pools in Sydney, so you can also look up the warmest pool that is nearest to you.
