Started in 1989 to try to convince reluctant Australians to cook mussels and crab, the course list has grown to include things like Seafood BBQ (I've heard good things about this one), Salt & Pepper Prawns and Chilli Salt Squid, Bouillabaisse, Vietnamese Seafood, and Moroccan Seafood.
Most classes start with a demonstration followed by a chance to try your own hand, and of course eat the results. It's a fun couple of hours and along with the food I met some really interesting people.
The School is located at the Sydney Fish Market, in Pyrmont. Classes are usually in the evening on weekdays (6.30pm to 9.30pm) and during the day on weekends. There are also some day classes on Tuesdays.
The cost ranges from $80 to $150 per person but includes the food and instruction. Click here for a full list of courses on during September.
