Fri 22 Mar 2024 - Tue 02 Apr 2024

Every year, the iconic Sydney Royal Easter Show comes to the city, and it is Australia’s largest, ticketed event where the country comes to the city, and those who attend the show get to meet cows, sheep, goats, baby chicks, alpacas and other farm animals that unless they have been to a farm, may not have met in the city. The show was first held 200 years ago in 1823, and its original purpose, to engage, educate, and entertain the community through valuable lessons on sustainable agriculture, award-winning breeds of animals through a range of exhibitions, demonstrations, competitions, and displays is still at the heart of the ethos and purpose of the show.

The show has grown over the centuries to include arts and crafts, cooking, photography, painting and sculptures, as well as daring feats of strength in the wood-chopping and sawing competitions, and has many other competitions for all: Young Farmer Challenge, Rural Achiever Awards, Alpaca Parading, Livestock auctions for various livestock, as well as show jumping, agricultural displays and many traditions at the district exhibits, which showcase what various regional and rural districts have and are good at.

Kids will love the Farmyard Nursery, which will have about 700 animals to see and touch, and there will be something for all ages, and for everyone in the city and the country. This year, the Woodchopping and Sawing competition will celebrate its 125th year since its first appearance at the show – and the Women’s World Championships will be making their debut this year as well – so don’t miss out on this excitement!

The Show wouldn’t be the show with the crowd favourites – cattle judging, sheep shearing, chicken hatching, pig washing and the Best in Show Dogs. And if you stay until the evening, the entertainment gets even more exhilarating as the whole family cheers on rodeo riders, campdraft races, moto-X Bikes, and the night-time drone show and fireworks.

The Easter Show is twelve days of non-stop entertainment, and when you go, there will be so much to choose from,

Getting to the Show

To get to Sydney Olympic Park for the Show, it is best to leave the car at home and use public transport, as Sydney Olympic Park is easily accessible if you use public transport. There will be plenty of extra services running each day, such as express trains and major event buses – and your ticket includes entry and return travel on public transport. Head over to Transport for NSW to get more information on travel to and from the Royal Easter Show – and you can start planning your trip two weeks before the start of the show – the 8th of March.

Your Sydney Royal Easter Show ticket includes travel on public transport (services detailed below) to and from the Show between Friday, 22 March and Tuesday, 2 April 2024 inclusive:

All you have to do is show your ticket or pass to Transport for NSW staff when boarding, and keep your ticket safe for your return journey, as you need a valid ticket to get transport. If you’re going via the airport stations, you will need to pay an additional station access fee that isn’t covered in your show ticket travel.

The show also includes carnival rides and the ever-popular Showbag Pavilion, which will have something to suit everyone’s tastes. Keep an eye on the website for further updates and additional information, and remember to keep safe, as the show can get very busy. Here are some good tips to stay safe during your day at the show, and another good tip is to remember your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to stay sun safe if you’re going to be there for a long time.
