I am a writer and teacher, out and about in the world but with Nottingham never far from my heart.
A day of vintage fun and retro style
Summer might be winding down, but that is no deterrent to the residents of one of the most style-conscious cities in Australia. In recognition of this, the Rock 'n' Roll Alternative Market is preparing to open its doors to a public who are eager for retro fashions, vintage buys, great music and a whole lot of fun.
Located on Manning Road, Camperdown, the Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Market is one of Sydney's premier alternative festivals. Billed as "part market, part music festival and part meeting place", the event boasts a range of treats that will delight everyone from hardcore vintage aficionados to newbies looking for a fun and vibrant day out.
The event's marketplace covers a whopping three floors and two courtyards, meaning that there is a retro fashion bargain to suit everyone's tastes. You just need to be prepared to look. Once you've shopped until you have almost dropped – and sated your hunger for vintage styles, classic vinyl, cult movie DVDs and concert posters – there are bars on site for you to relax, have a drink and listen to some classic tunes.
DJs such as Rockin' Marc Rondeau and Solid Gold Hell are on hand to provide he perfect soundtrack to your Rock 'n' Roll Market experience, and live music acts will be performing throughout the day.
After you get your strength back, there is a 50's Rock 'n' Roll Dance class which will help you get back into the swing!
Sunday March 15th is the next Rock 'n' Roll Market event in a calendar that stretches right the way into November, so if this event leaves you wanting more, there are opportunities to return in May, July, September and November.
Doors open at 10:30am and tickets cost $6 for adults (kids go free). Come along, find yourself a unique bargain and let your hair down, retro-style, at Sydney's Rock 'n' Roll Market.
