Mums on Mother's Day deserve to be spoilt and after breakfast in bed and gifts from your children, follow-up with a booking to one of Sydney's top Mother's Day restaurants for lunch, each with special packages for that special day in May.
Sealevel is ideally situated atop Cronulla Beach, celebrating 20 years of service with panoramic views of the ocean, dotted with colourful surfboards during Sunday competition. In the dining room, with sea breeze from the open windows on warmer afternoons, sip from the wine menu or BYO with ice buckets provided.
While the Mother's Day
menu has a special $95 3 course selection, listing chicken and beef, the ocean's bounty is the star.
Begin with
Sydney rock oysters for entrée, with your choice of mornay or kilpatrick.
For mains, there are snapper, salmon, dory and lobster dishes, but the
seafood platter, while designed for 2, is easily enough to share with the kids. The feast features Sydney rock oysters, fresh blue swimmer crab, Balmain bugs, smoked salmon, fresh & barbecue prawns, scallops, beer battered fish, barbecued octopus, crispy semolina squid, tropical fruit and chips.
For dessert, choose from amaretto panna cotta, rosé poached pear with white chocolate or the espresso crème brulee.
Sealevel is open for Mother's Day lunch with sittings at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Bring your camera for lunch in a World Heritage listed landmark, Old Government House, with the sandstone walls surrounded by the breathtaking native greenery, birdlife and English hedges in Parramatta Park. Book a table on the verandah, lined with grape vines and bathed in sunshine.
Begin with an entrée of
caramelised onion and goats cheese tart with beetroot relish or spinach & feta slice with rice flour pastry, spiced beetroot relish & roasted garlic yoghurt.
For main, the
Tasmanian Atlantic salmon fillet with thyme infused potato puree and a lychee lime salsa or the
braised lamb shanks with potato skordalia, feta, pine nuts, lemon crumble are highlights.
Finish with dessert of apple and rhubarb crumble with custard and vanilla icecream or a cool burst of ice cream and espresso with the Affogato beside crisp almond tuille biscuits.
Lachlan's is open for lunch on Sunday from 10am - 5pm.
Mum is welcomed with a complimentary glass of Domaine Chandon Rosé as she enters the sleek surrounds of the Sheraton, overlooking Hyde Park, for one of Sydney's signature buffets for $119.
As the aromas of international cuisines draw you from your table, top your plate with flavours from over 20 countries, including perhaps Sydney's best seafood buffet.
The table of roasted meats, including beef, chicken, lamb and pork, are sliced by the chef as you approach, ensuring the texture is moist and tender. Surround the cuts with a roast vegetables, gravies, mustards and sauces and maybe a sneaky Yorkshire pudding.
On the Italian table, it's the big Ps - pasta and pizza, with custom slices made to order with your favourite toppings, including pineapple for the non-traditionalists.
At the Asian station, choose from Chinese, Indian and Japanese dishes, including sushi, curries, samosas, rice and noodle dishes.
On the lively seafood section, pick up prawns, crab, Balmain bugs and Oysters Kilpatrick or order a lobster, cooked to your liking.
Dessert is impossible to miss, with red love hearts for 'Mom' adorning the sweet station. Keep it simple with fruit salads with ice cream, scones with cream and jam, lamingtons and pavlova or indulge with meringue, panna cotta, cheesecake and chocolatey tortes.

Named for the famed 15th century epicurean
bishop in Italy, Bishop Sessa is a favourite with locals, as polite staff convert new guests into regulars with their attentive service. This Mother's Day, a special 4 course menu for $75 will be served, with a children's menu also available.
Select from the award-winning
wine selection , with a refreshing Riesling white and full-bodied Shiraz red.
For entrée, the
scallop ceviche with carrot, ginger beer, lime, fennel, avocado cream or the
charcuterie board for two, with house made cured & preserved meats, duck rillettes, chicken liver parfait, port butter, pickled vegetables and pear chutney are deserving of a special occasion.
For mains, the coal grilled Burrawong Gaian Pekin
duck breast with dehydrated grapes, pumpkin & coffee puree and hay braised carrots or the
roasted wild venison with turnip & liquorice puree, pine mushroom, fermented pear sauce are satisfying picks.
Dessert can be a savoury end a selection of cheeses from France, England and the Netherlands or sweet with an apple terrine walnut, coffee mousse, apple cider ice cream or black sesame parfait.

On the tip of the Spit Bridge, take a Mediterranean holiday as the exotic Italian accents invite you to begin a special Mother's Day four course degustation for $125.
Begin with porcini mushroom chips, sourdough bread and ricotta before the mains of
kingfish tartare with horseradish and trout roe,
octopus risotto or
charcoal lamb.
The afternoon finishes sweetly with tiramisù and petit fours.
There is also an accompanying children's degustation for $60 with potato gnocchi napoletana, grilled chicken breast or fish fillets with salad, ending with 3 scoops of smooth and creamy gelato.
Ormeggio is open for lunch on Sunday from 11.30 to 3pm.
