As part of the Sydney Design Festival, the Sydney Mini Maker Faire returns to the Powerhouse Museum for its second year running on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 August 2014. The 2013 exhibition saw over 3000 people coming through the doors of the Powerhouse Museum to experience the fantastic Makers' stalls exhibiting wonderful works and wares.

[BREAK]The concept of the Maker Faire originated as a way to showcase new forms and technologies but has evolved as a platform to feature innovation and experimentation across multiple fields including science, engineering, art, performance and craft.

The Sydney Mini Maker Faire is a great opportunity for people to exhibit their inventions, creativity and resourcefulness and is a true celebration of the popular world-wide "Maker movement". It's a place where people can show, sell, present, perform and learn. It's also a great family day out!

If you're a mover and maker and you've got a project that would fit the brief for the Sydney Mini Maker Faire, you can apply to participate here . Applications are available to individuals, groups, schools and other organisations, whether you're interested in exhibiting your work or selling it!

[BREAK]The categories for participation are non profit-maker booth or exhibit, commercial maker booth (primarily sales booth), workshop or presentation, performer or exhibiting sponsor.

Applications close Friday 4 July 2014 at 5pm.

If you're more of a looker than a maker and enjoy handmade and homemade crafts, new technologies, new uses for old technologies and interactive exhibits which teach, share and demonstrate, come along and visit the Sydney Mini Maker Faire. Kids who participated in the 2013 event enjoyed showing and explaining their 'make', whilst others spent their time wandering around the stalls and exhibits enjoying the wide array of ideas and products on show.

[BREAK]Last year's stalls included Scouts Science, Cogs' Workshop Slime, Robots & Dinosaurs, Australian Electric Vehicle Society, Ritual Solar Observance Society, Sydney Origami Group, NSW Embroider's Guild, Questacon, Magnet Painting Art, 3D printing systems, The Vegan Teahouse, Fly Rockets… and this year promises to deliver even more!

Tickets for the Sydney Mini Maker Faire are free after museum entry and entitle you to attend one day of the Faire. Members of the Powerhouse Museum are entitled to free entry. Pre-sale tickets will be available so be sure to book to secure your place.

This is your opportunity to meet the Makers (or be the Makers) – so, make the most of it. It's an inventor's paradise.
