Indulge your senses at the Sydney Korean Festival on 5th and 6th May 2018 at Tumbalong Park Darling Harbour.



Come celebrate and share all the wonderful things about Korean culture. Share in mouth watering Korean food stalls, cultural performances and experiences such as K-Talent, K- Pop World Festival and lots more.



The history of Korean pop, which began around 20 years ago, is exciting. K-Pop is a music genre originating in Korea and characterised by synthesized music, synchronised dance routines and crazy fashion outfits. It includes all genres of popular music covering dance pop, pop ballad, electronic, rock, hip hop and R&B to name a few.

K-pop's wide appeal is the inspiration drawn from a range of styles and genres from around the world. My introduction to K-pop will reveal my age when I fell in love with Seo Taiji and Boys back in 1992.

I truly believe that this band led to a turning point in the history of K-pop for their innovative rap, rock, techno music and ability to merge Eastern and Western styles together. Not only did their lyrics deal with problems in Korean society, they had a catchy chorus, too, and it was a band that wasn't pigeon holed into one genre. Based on their immense popularity in Korea, this created the formula for other idol groups to follow. Any G.O.D or S.E.S fans in the house?

K-pop has this ability to attract music lovers not familiar with the Korean language combined with the crazy dance moves of Psy. Did you know that Bangtan Boys (BTS), a seven member South Korean boy band, came to Sydney in May 2017 as part of their Wings Tour and sold out in less than 48 hours?



Don't get me started on Korean food. Come along and try the healthy diet which emphasises vegetables and simply cooked meat without much oil, and discover the benefits of kimchi.



Come and join in the festivities on the Sat, May 5 and Sun, May 6 and jump into the K-culture hotspot at Darling Harbour.
