I am always looking out for new experiences, wherever I may find myself.
There are some pretty big events coming up in the world of fashion and with many of them taking place in the heart of Sydney, the City of Sydney has put together a program called Sydney is Fashion, which ties them all together and throws in a few extra celebrations for good measure. It all begins on Wednesday August 21, and runs until Thursday September 7.
Another big event coming up is Vogue Fashion's Night Out on Thursday September 5, which is part of a global fashion initiative by Vogue. The evening is a celebration of shopping and visitors to the CBD will be able to enjoy a series of exclusive, one-off events. Look out for runway shows, beauty workshops, makeovers, entertainment, VIP parties and exclusive offers at participating retailers (a list of which can be found here).
The third annual event that falls during the Sydney Is Fashion period is the Strand Society's Evening With Our Designers at the Strand Arcade, the most prestigious event on the centre's shopping calendar. It will run from 6.00pm to 9.00pm on Wednesday August 21, and guests will be able to meet designers like Lover, Manning Cartell, Akira, Christopher Esber and Kym Ellery. They will also be able to get a sneak peak at the upcoming trends, enjoy exclusive offers and be treated to a performance by Emma Louise.
Villages around the City of Sydney will also be hosting their own mini-events. Newtown Is Fashion will take place on Thursdays throughout the festival (that is, Thursday August 22, Thursday August 29 and Thursday September 5), with in-store events, sales and a series of fashion-focused films screening at Dendy Cinemas Newtown. In Paddington, stores will host special offers and in-store events on Saturday August 24 and Sunday August 25, while Surry Hills Is Fashion will feature special deals and events in participating stores on Saturday August 31, and at the Surry Hills Markets on Saturday September 7.
