There is always a good crowd turning up at St Patrick's Day events and now Sydney will have an Irish Festival for lovers of all things Irish!

The starts on Saturday 10th November 2018 and will run for two days. There will be family-friendly entertainment throughout the day. Included in the entertainment will naturally be that very "in" traditional Irish Dance performances, hurling clinics, amusement rides, player autograph sessions, market stalls, activities for children of all ages, and a Guinness Book of Records attempt to make the world's biggest Irish stew. You'll also be able to watch an array of roaming performers, visit bars and food outlets.

As well as being an official partner of the festival, P.J.OBrien is having a pop-up pub at the festival, so you can go there for your black stuff which will be exclusive to P.J's Pop-Up Pub over the two-day festival.

WOW! What an event! You will also be able to listen to and watch stand up comedy (Irish comedy?) and live music throughout the day. At sunset the main major concert will begin with:

  • Damien Dempsey - his music is a mixture of traditional Irish music, reggae, rock and folk.

  • Mary Black - Mary has released 11 albums and plays Irish music, and has done for some 25 years now.

  • Lunasa - This band has performed at no less than 1500 concerts and is known for their different Irish traditional music. They play on traditional pipes, fiddle, bass, low whistles and flute, amongst other instruments.

  • Saint Sister - formed in 2014 and their music is Celtic harp traditional, 60's folk and electronic pop. An up and coming duo, this will be their first tour to Australia.

On day two, Sunday 11th November, there will be the Big Irish Brunch. Ever had an Irish breakfast or brunch? Now is your chance to taste traditional Irish brunch and see exactly what they eat at that time of day.

The jewel in the festival's crown, however, sees the Galway Tribesmen, winners of the 2017 GAA Hurling All Ireland Senior Championship, take on the reigning 2018 Allianz League Champions, Kilkennyin. This will be an amazing hurling game at Spotless Stadium on the Sunday afternoon.

Then there will be more family-friendly activities and live music, followed by a pre-game welcome parade of the teams into the stadium. The two teams, above, will play for the winner to be crowned and receive the "The Wild Geese Trophy" at 3.30 pm.

    About Hurling
Irish people will skite that this is the fastest sport in the world - oh, and of course, the best! It is actually ranked at number two on CNN on their list of sports you must see live before you die – second only to the Olympics.

It is sort of like a football player playing with a hockey stick! The aim is to net the sliotar, which is the hard leather-covered ball. This ball is capable of pinging around the field at 160 kilometres an hour!

The game dates way back to the 7th Century and now hurling has grown into Ireland's national game.

We can watch this game for the first time when Spotless Stadium, will be transformed into a "cauldron of unbridled intensity"

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so don't miss out!

It will be held at the Sydney Showgrounds, 1 Showground Road, Sydney Olympic Park and is presented by Magners, makers of Irish cider.
