Do you love curry?
If so, then this new festival in Castle Hill is for you. Coming to the main street, outside Castle Towers, will be a variety of flavoursome stalls based around this versatile dish where spice is the name of the game. Originating in South and South-East Asian countries, curried meals come in many varieties, textures, colours and tastes and this festival will feature a wide variety from Sydney's chefs and restaurants.
Common curry powders consist of turmeric, cumin, coriander and hot chillies but additional spices in different regions add to the diversity, producing different results. Coconut milk is used a lot in Northern India and yoghurt is also a popular additive to many curry sauces. Vegetarians and meat lovers both rejoice in consumption of curry as it can be paired with multiple accompaniments. Beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, vegetables, noodles - they all go well in curried dishes of different forms, such as Laksas, stews and tikkas. Pair with rice or roti (a light flat bread).
I love a good butter chicken and rogan josh and am looking forward to this festival and, as with most festivals, there is more to keep you busy. Entertainment with live on stage music and cultural performances, children's rides, Henna tattoos, merchandise stalls, and lots of giveaways, round out this event.
Entry and parking is free so wander around at leisure and enjoy some tasty bites.
