Despite being a seemingly tacky, touristy thing to do, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge really is an experience like no other.

Beginning in the Climb Base below the Bradfield Highway, each climber is kitted out with a (very comfortable) Bridge Climb 'onesie' and harness belt.

Various optional items such as caps, rain jackets, and handkerchiefs can also be attached to the belt, ensuring nothing falls onto the stream of traffic below as you ascend the mighty steel structure.

Taking three and a half hours to complete, climbers ascend four ladders to the start of the upper arch – don't let the hum of traffic or vibrations from passing trains put you off, the view at the top is well worth any nerves endured.

There are a number of different climbs available, including dawn, day, twilight, and night. There are also a shorter, 'Express Climb' available which takes around two and a half hours to complete.

Ranging in price from $148 to $358 depending on the chosen climb, it's pricey, but a truly magical experience. Climbers must be 10-years-old or over, with the oldest person to complete the climb aged 100.

The climb is not overly taxing as the gradient is fairly gradual. Getting down is more difficult as jelly legs and muscle spasms begin to set-in, so take care - various Climb Leaders are stationed around the route to help out if needed and since everyone is attached to the bridge individually, you can take the climb at your own speed.

Unfortunately cameras are not permitted on the climb but the Climb Leader will take photos of you at various points during the climb. The photos are, of course, available at an extra cost at the end of the climb. Climbers also receive access to the Pylon Lookout included in the climb price. Located at the top of 200 stairs, the view from here is still worth a look - and cameras are permitted.

When you're done climbing, The Glenmore Hotel is just a hop, skip, and jump (if your legs will allow) up the road. The newly renovated rooftop bar offers yet more views of the Harbour.

If you have a thirst for adventure, love stunning views, or enjoying seeing things from a different perspective, then BridgeClimb is for you.'
"You haven't seen Sydney until you've seen it from the bridge", and hey, how many other iconic structures are you able to (legally) stand on top of?
