This is one event you can do by the halves
The cooler months are just around the corner, and with them comes the running season. Regardless of whether you are a serious runner or a beginner, now is the time to think about your goals and which races you'd like to enter so you can start training. Normally the word "marathon" would scare off beginner runners, but the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon has events for all levels of runners. With a route that takes you around the inner city with views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, it has to be one of the more scenic runs on offer and one to consider entering.

The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, 21st of May. It is expected that 12,000 local and interstate runners will participate this year making the event Australia's largest half marathon. The half marathon commences at 6:45am. In addition to the 21km half marathon, you can form a relay team and split the course up into 14km or 7km legs, depending on how much of a challenge you want to set yourself. All finishers receive a medal and can download a certificate.

The course starts and finishes in Hyde Park and takes you past Pyrmont, Darling Harbour, The Rocks, Circular Quay and the Royal Botanic Gardens. The iconic views, coupled with the novelty of running around Sydney's inner city, will make for one special race.
