I am a writer doing my best to look at Sydney every day with tourist eyes.

Cantina Mobil
Cantina Mobil- Sydney's first food truck.

It is the thrill of the chase that makes wild animals appreciate their dinner and with the food truck phenomenon rolling into Sydney, now you can too.

Emulating American culture is hardly a new concept in this country but I think the City of Sydney Council have made a very smart decision with this one.

Soon enough Sydneysiders can chase 10 different trucks that are filled with all types of street foods and change location and time on a daily basis.

Cantina Mobil's chipotle beef taco.

Lose all your preconceptions about food bought off the street and start getting excited about this.

You will not have to wonder ``how long has that food been sitting there?'', ``has this vendor showered recently?'' or ``is that actually food they are serving?'' at any of these trucks.

They are all packed with delicious street food of the highest quality. From wagyu beef meatball pizza to grilled spatchcock, soft tacos and roasted duck buns.

While most of the trucks are working to obtain permits and are due to hit the streets soon, two of them are already out and about- Cantina Mobil and Eat Art Truck.

Now get your drooling mouth tissues ready because I'm about to take you through all of them.

Cantina Mobil

Cantina Mobil's achiote chicken burrito.

First off the ranks was this little haven on delicious Mexican street food. Pick your style - a soft or hard taco, burrito or chilli corn and then choose your filling - slow roasted shredded chipotle beef, marinated and slow cooked achiote chicken or traditional pinto beans. Wash it down with a Nakula coconut water or non-alcoholic Sangria Senorial.

Eat Art Truck

This one has only just started serving and with former Tesuya's sous chef Stuart McGill fronting the grill, it is the epitome of fine dining on wheels.

Gourmet items on the menu include twice cooked steak ssam, pulled pork buns and hot chocolate cake with dulce de leche and peanuts.

Let's Do Yum Cha

There is no finer suggestion than that. You will be able to get your favourite yum cha pieces on the go here - like steamed gow gee, roasted duck buns and fried spring rolls.

Al Carbón

More Mexican treats of beef, pork, lamb and chicken soft tacos cooked over a mesquite grill, homemade salsas and spit roasted lamb.

If you can't wait for council approval - you can check out Al Carbon's pop up taqeria La Lupita on 325 Canterbury Road, Canterbury.

Urban Pasta

This will have pasta favourites and sweets of the highest quality. Urban Pasta are still finalising their menu and are now asking for people to list their favourite pasta dish on their Facebook page. So let them know what you fancy pronto.

Agape's gundooee organic wagyy beef meatball spelt pizza. Source: Agape Organic Food Truck Facebook page.

Based on the Botany Bay restaurant of the same name, this is another truck that will be high on the fancy, with every menu item being organic.

You can expect gourmet pizzas with wagyu beef meatball, percorino and basil as well as scallops with Spencer Gulf prawns on a base of the ancient grain spelt.

Bite Sized Delights

They have taken the literal approach of naming this one which will be packed with pastizzis - Maltese pastries of all different flavours including spinach and ricotta, salmon and dill, cherry and apple and chocolate mousse.

If you are of the ``everything tastes better on a stick'' inclination, then this is the truck for you. This Asian street food includes chicken satay skewers, pork belly buns and onigiris.

Taco Truck

You really can't have enough taco choices in life and this one has already caused a stir with its Melbourne food truck.

Here you will find chicken, vegetarian and fish tacos - with coleslaw, poppyseed mayonnaise and a lime squeeze, as well as plenty of salsa and tortilla chips.

The Veggie Patch

If the meaty treats don't do it for you, fear not, The Veggie Patch will be here. Producing quality vegetarian meals with products sourced from local growers, the menu will have dishes such as tofu burgers coated in lemongrass and chilli with beetroot relish, tomatoes, and caramelised onions, felafel rolls and mixed veggie chips.

Council approved sites for the trucks currently include Victoria Park in Camperdown, Queen's Square and Hyde Park North, with many more sites set to be approved in and around the city area.

A Sydney Food Trucks mobile app will be released soon to help you track down the trucks each day, but you can also keep up with all the trucks' updates on Facebook and Twitter.
