Celebrating the Creative City of Sydney
The festive season may have passed but Sydney is still aglow with festivities. Every January our city is taken over by the vibrant, magical, and in some cases, bizarre creations of Sydney Festival - from art installations, to musical endeavours, to interactive performances, and more.

Here are just 10 wonderful things in this year's edition of the city-wide celebration that you may treat yourself to.

1. The Beach at the Cutaway

Drop by the scenic Barangaroo Reserve for a dip in the pool of white balls. Free everyday between 10am and 5pm. Ticketed sessions outside of this.

2. House of Mirrors

Hyde Park, home to Festival Village, is also this year home to The House of Mirrors. Get lost in a maze of light and magnified reflections for just $10, between 4.30 and 11pm.

3. Glitterbox

Leave a little sparkle everywhere you go, and what better way to do this than in a colourful cube of light and glitter? Find this along with live DJ's upon the Sky Terrace at The Star.

4. Soul of Sydney

Speaking of dance, soak up the funky vibes with a group of passionate performers before a backdrop of green at Hyde Park.

5. Exit

Immerse yourself in a 360 degree portrayal of a world in peril. This 45-minute long piece can be found at the UNSW Galleries in Paddington.

6. Roller Jam

Dust off those old rollerblades and go for a whimsical glide around the Archibald Fountain to the sound of music in the air - courtesy of some Saturday afternoon DJ's.

7. Opera in The Domain

Listen to some breathtaking talents beneath the stars, right in the heart of the city. Pencil in this incredible free experience for the 21st of January.

8. The Hair Salon

Check out the big hair music performances at the Festival Village, covering a range of genres from cabaret, to Bollywood, and featuring the likes of contortionists. It'll be a different experience each time, and if you're game, step up and donate your scalp to art.

9. The Circus

Over in Parramatta, catch an official Sydney Festival circus, for free. See flying trapeze artists and score a free sausage sizzle if you get in early.

10. Ferrython

An annual Australia Day tradition in line with the close of Sydney Festival is the Ferrython. Watch and cheer as the ferries of the harbour make their way to Shark Island and back. Also, for the first time in history, for $120 you may purchase a spot upon one of these - complete with refreshments.
